Cook-Off volunteers gather every week to assemble 200+ dinners to be distributed to frail aging adults in the City of Philadelphia. No cooking is involved, so your time commitment is limited and easy to fit into a busy schedule. This is an easy and fun volunteer opportunity for people of all ages and a great family activity. Date & Time: The third Sunday of every month, 1:00-2:00pm

Our companionship program for the elderly carefully matches volunteers to an isolated aging adult either living independently in Philadelphia or in a nursing home or assisted living facility in the Philadelphia suburbs. This volunteer opportunity is distinguished by its one-to-one philosophy. Each volunteer visits only one resident, becoming a special friend to that person. Host a children’s party or event at St. Barnabas Mission! Get creative with your theme and plan a party for the youth in our community. Volunteers have hosted parties for Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Mardi Gras, and more with great success. Hosts bring snacks, crafts, and/or games for a fun-filled afternoon with our families! Share your career story with the young men and women in our workforce development program, The RISE Initiative. Volunteers speak to the adults about their occupation and the steps they took to get there. Help ECS provide necessities to our participants by organizing a donation drive at your place of worship, workplace, or in your community!
